How I KNOW that God will never give up on me

There's this verse that's been hitting harder than ever before ever these past few months: "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us." Just a verse – until you think about it more.
Just think how far He came – He knew no sin. Sure, he had seen it, seen its effects, even understood it better than we as humans can understand it now. But He had never known it personally, known the weight in His soul and the crushing, dying feeling it holds. He knew no sin.
But He became that sin. According to this verse, He didn't just take the weight of that sin; He literally became that sin. All the sin of the entire world, throughout all history, concentrated inside of Him, all that crushing weight and guilt. He took all the punishment, all the weight, all the ugliness and terribleness itself.
And it was for us. Broken and ugly in our sin as we are, He did all that – for us. He had no assurance that we would acknowledge or accept or appreciate His sacrifice… and He did it anyway. And just think, even when we say that we acknowledge, accept, and appreciate that sacrifice – often we don’t really mean it.
He who knew no sin became sin for you so that you do not have to hold on to it any longer. He didn’t purchase your perfection or your righteousness when He died on the cross… He purchased your sins. And He who would go to such lengths out of nothing but pure love for us wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked humans will not spare anything to take from your life that sin which He purchased. That’s how you know, He. Will. Never. Give. Up. On. You.
